Born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1977.

1998 - Created the "DAVID WEST" label and began selling jeans at
Aphro, a boutique in Long Street, Cape Town.
Graduated from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

1999 - Opened the Summer 2000 edition of SA Fashion Week
in Johannesburg with "Lepidoptera" collection, a collaboration
with artist Julia Clark.
Created "DAVID WEST laboratory", a range experimenting with
more basic fashion, with Arie Fabian of Fabiani and sold through
The Young Designers Emporium.

2000 - Winner of the Durban Designer Collections.
Nominated for Catherine Award.
"Occidental" collection, shown at SA fashion Week, made
headline news in Johannesburg's Star newspaper.

2001 - Signed with agent "Showroom" in London.
Began exporting to Japan.
Worked with Generator Communications on short film,
"Where is David West?" screened at Cinema Nouveau.
Took part in "Fashion Against Addiction" charity fashion show in Durban.
Nominated for Catherine Award.

2003 - Closed business. Worked as Designer at Truworths LTD, one of South
Africa's largest retailers.

2009 - Showed "The Holbol Collection", his first collection in 6 years,
at WHATIFTHEWORLD gallery in Woodstock, Cape Town.
Spent time in Tokyo, Japan.
Re-launch of label at boutiques in South Africa.
Opened "Weekend Special" concept store in Woodstock's Albert Road with long time model,
production designer Elmi Badenhorst in November 2009.

2010 - Opened new store in Long Street, Cape Town with design duo, Dokter and Misses selling both fashion
and furniture.

2011 - Named one of South Africa's top 200 young South Africans by the Mail and Guardian newspaper.
Showed Winter 2011 at the Design Indaba Expo
Exhibited as part of Toffie Pop Culture Festival
Exhibited at Salon2 Amsterdam
